School Dinners

PLEASE READ: School Dinner Ordering Letter

Lunchtime

School meals are cooked on the premises. Please read accompanying letter for order options.

Payment for meals should be made in advance on Monday mornings for the week. You can also pay monthly, half-termly, or termly. Meals currently cost £3.25 per day.

Please note that the government currently provides a subsidy so that all children up to the end of Y2 can have a Universal Free School Meal (UIFSM). Please ask the office for more information.

Payments for meals should be made through our cashless system – ParentPay - Leading Cashless Payment System for Schools Account set up information will be sent home with new pupils. If you are in receipt of some benefits then your child may be entitled to Free School Meals, this is different to the UIFSM. Please contact the School Office or Local Authority for more information.

If you do not want your child to have a school meal you may send a packed lunch or, alternatively, you may make arrangements for your child to go home at lunchtime. If you do the latter, please ensure that your child is returned to school five minutes before the start of the afternoon session.

The welfare of the children during the lunch break is in the hands of the Senior Midday Supervisor and her staff, under the overall control of the Head of School and Executive Head.

MENU CHOICES
Options vary across the schools, but for Scargill the following choices will be available.
 
Here is how the menu will work:
 
Option 1: This is the main meal served that day and available to everyone who orders a school dinner.
 
Option 2: This is usually the vegetarian option, unless the main meal is vegetarian. Limited amount. This needs to be pre-ordered to guarantee availability.
 
Option 3: The catering team will provide the following if preferred.
  • Jacket Potato (1 filling); cheese or beans.
  • Baguette (1 filling); cheese or ham.
This needs to be pre-ordered on the day, before 9.30am.
To pre-order a meal, please either call or email the school office (contacts above), the day before or in the morning (before 9.30am), to let us know.

Digital Medical Diet Application Form

Derbyshire Catering Service are pleased to announce the launch of our digital medical diet application form.

If your child(ren) requires a tailored medical diet, you will be required to complete the digital application.
